eNotes.com internship

January 2018-January 2020

This year, I made the sad decision to part ways with the great internship I’d had since my freshman year. eNotes, a homework help site similar to SparkNotes and based in Capitol Hill, was my first gig in the “real world” of jobs with direct deposits, and it ended up feeling like a second home. My one-quarter internship stretched to two years because I enjoyed it so much. Everything, from the enormous Newfoundland who kindly shuffled over to greet me when I nervously entered the office for my interview, to the staff meetings with people who all shared my sense of humor and taste in books, was a picture-perfect first job experience, and I gained a lot of confidence in my copyediting and grammar skills, in addition to learning tips and tricks for respectfully and effectively communicating with the writers whose work you’re editing. Eventually, I realized that I needed to devote more time to my job at The Daily, and two years of doing a wonderful but pretty methodical job had started to get harder. I left the job on really good terms and will forever regard it as one of the best experiences of my undergrad career.
